Beach experience!

Kanah had his follow up for cleft lip repair at MUSC and his International Adoption team appointment. He is on target for his age except for growth which he is eating his way daily for catch up! He has gained over 2 lbs since we got him last month! Grandma Dee Dee and Mommy took them to the beach for their first real beach experience to play in the water and sand. Keaton went last year but did not get to play that trip. A man with a Kayak let them get in for a quick pic!

Celebrating one year Family Day with Keaton!

We are celebrating our first year FAMILY DAY with Keaton tomorrow! We made him a chocolate cake to celebrate. You can see our first few pics on GOTCHA DAY 9-13-2010! He came to us happy ( after a brief crying spell after he was handed to us) and as you can see he is still smiling today! Keaton has been a joy to ours and our family's lives. He also gets to celebrate this happy time with his new brother Kanah! Kanah really enjoyed the cake too! We love you Keaton!

(sorry for the side view shots again! I can not use my husbands fancy phone!)

Rockin it out!

Monogrammed lunchboxes they each loved carrying them into day care, but would not stand still for a picture so all you get are the lunchboxes this time!

Kanah wearing daddy's hat playing in his PJ's!

Rockin it out with their guitars!

Kanah playing while wearing his new rain boots from Mima!

Kanah figuring out how to hold , and play the guitar with his tiny little hands!

Action shot of serious guitar playing!

Sorry for the side shot pics. I can not get them to rotate from the phone for some reason!

The boys started into day care this week. It was hard for Keaton to go back, and Kanah of course cried some in the beginning of each day. They both did well and it was hard for me to get them to go home some days since they were having so much fun playing. Kanah did throw a few fits, and the caregivers got to see what those were all about! Terrible 2's fits we call them! These mostly occur now if he does not get what he wants or he wants to be held all of the time. He is learning he can not be held all of the time, and is encouraged to walk and follow us from room to room to be with us. The clingy fits are much better! They both have started the weekend with the DAY CARE CRUD! Keaton woke up during the night with a croup cough sounding like a seal. He got this last year just after starting day care. He has been home with us over a month, and not exposed to all of the germs. This unfortunately is a reality of having to take your kiddo's to day care! We both have to work, and they have to go!
Kanah has more appointments this week at MUSC at the International Adoption Team and if needed a follow up with the ENT for another post surgery check up. Most likely he will be able to skip that appointment. She said if I had no concerns to cancel it! Yay! He is doing great with his recovery. His cold may cause a problem so prayer needed for no complications to surgical site!

Various pics from the week

Here are a few pics from the week. They are not in order, and I could not get some of them rotated so you have to view them sideways. SORRY! Kanah has healed very well from his surgery, and is back to normal sleeping for the most part, and is not clinging to me all of the time now. He is not throwing fits any longer every time I get out of his site. We are pretty much back to pre-surgery behavior, and he continues to get better with everything each day. I think he is finally realizing we are not going anywhere, and he is going to be in his home everyday when he wakes up! I can leave and he will cry, but then play soon after, and then sees that I return home shortly.

Kanah rode his cousin Lucas's tricycle. Aunt Mary Beth and Uncle Chris gave the boys Lucas's 2 tricycles since he has outgrown them. We have to get them helmets. They loved wearing the helmet, and did not want me to take it off! We went to the Summer concert at Roger's Park and saw The Firecracker Jazz Band. The boys enjoyed a picnic and dancing to the music! They wore their Chinese little brother and big brother T-shirts.

Keaton loves his rain boots! He was playing last night and we looked around and he had his rain boots on riding his fire truck!

5th day post op!

Kanah is doing great healing from cleft lip repair surgery last week. He has adjusted to his no-no's well, and holds his arms out to put them back on now after his breaks with them off. He has reverted back since surgery to his behavior on the first few days after his adoption. I have had to hold him constantly or he has a fit! These are better each day and so far this morning he is playing and no fits! He slept better last night with only one episode of a crying fit. I coaxed him back to sleep in his crib at 1 am, and he slept until 715 am. The good thing is these episodes are getting better, and hopefully by the end of the week we will back on track as pre-surgery. This poor fellow has had a wild month of August with a new family, new home, and surgery! He is doing amazing with eating, walking, and motor skill development as seen with playing with his toys.

Keaton getting kissed by a girl!

I took the boys to the park today, and Keaton's day care girl friend yelled out KEAT when we arrived. She wanted to play with him, and sat in the toy car and tried to give him a kiss! Keaton was shy and as you can see tried to fend her off. They blow kisses and give each other a hug when he goes home from day care each day, and we have teased him that she is his girlfriend for months. He has been bashful all night as we tease him , and wipes his face off where she kissed him! Too funny! I at least have this pic for blackmail if they ever date in high school!

Enjoying dinner with a break from NO NO's

Kanah is doing very well post surgery.  He is adapting to his no no's too. He holds his arms out when it is time to put them back on.
