As you know we can not see our blog half the time and so we are emailing pictures into it. The beer picture was an accidental post, but it was funny. It is on the wall at Lucy's. I have some more to load later today, and I just have to write about them separately. Kanah cried for bit when he was first handed over to us, but soon became quiet and just watched us all along with his surroundings the remainder of the evening. Kanah is very tiny compared to his bother Keaton for his age. He is approximately 18 lbs at 21 months old. We had to buy very small diapers and maybe some other clothes. He is coming out of his shell, and laughing at us and Keaton. Keaton being here is definitely our best choice for bonding. I feel both of them will greatly benefit by being together during this trip.
Kanah so far bonded well with all of us and does not prefer just Mom or Dad and will go to us equally, as Keaton would not let Daddy out of his sight for a few days after we got him. He is sort of quiet and reserved as I assumed from his sweet pictures. Though I really have a feeling he can be very silly! He got his tickle button pressed prior to bed and enjoyed being tickled by all of us, and Keaton loves trying to make him laugh! Keaton has had a few jealous moments, and I do not expect that to change. That is normal!
I really do not feel anyone spent time feeding our son, because he will eat or drink everything you give him , but he takes some time to get it all down related to his un-repaired cleft lip and palate. I know the orphanage staff most likely did not have much time to delegate to one child. We got him at 3p, and presented a Nuby cup of juice and Keaton demonstrated how to use it and Kanah became a pro! He drank a whole juice, formula, ate mashed potatoes, some small bites of hotdog wiener, fruit, and ice cream (HE LOVED), and another cup full of formula by 8p. Kanah is definetly delayed as a result of improper nutrition, but he shall soon catch up especially once he has his surgery. He is not able to walk steady on his own, but is able to get up and sit on his own.It also appears he was never exposed to a cup or a spoon though he quickly caught on and did very well. I am not even sure he had ever been allowed to hold his own bottle, as he was not real sure what to do with it, until I encouraged him to hold it himself. He loves his treat cup and used it very well from the start, and ate a whole cup of puffins for babies. He will not let the treat cup go and actually went to bed with it! If you remember Keaton would not part with his cup and spoon. Our boys and their food utensils!
We hope to have more pics sent to the blog later this morning!
